  4. Absolutely - it's how it used to be done. You can also use vegetable oil or grease. Dip a paper towel in it and lightly spread it over the pan.

  5. Ah! the innocence of the young. Yes, that's what we dinosaurs did before they invented non-stick spray.

  6. that is the old fashioned way..  I still only use butter and will not use non stick.
