Question:

Can I use different signatures in different banks?

I've just arrived in us. When I opened an account in BOA, I signed in English, but later I also opened an account in Citibank, and I signed in Chinese.

Will that cause a problem? Especially when I issue a check, what kind of signature should I use?

  1. Your signature is only on record with that bank you just have to sign how you signed when you opened your account and if you want to change it you can very easily it's not a big deal, they only care that the check is good.

  2. ~~Each bank will only honor the signature you used when you opened the account at their bank. Honestly now days, only large amounts are ever verified by human eyes, so not very many signatures are ever even verified. However, if it's anything large, or anything that would require an employees attention, they will check your signature card and your signature would need to match their records to be honored. This is for your protection. You would need to always sign the same way you signed when you open the account. You may go in and change your signature card with I.D. at any time.~~

  3. I would sign in English and keep your signature uniform. No need to switch it around. "When in Rome do as the Romans do."
