Of course I would only use a few drops to get a lather, and I would rinse thourghly. The nearest pet store is an hour away, so I need something now and I'll pick up the good stuff later.

thanks,

Esther

  1. Ferrets are not the type of animals to take baths often so waiting a few days to go to the store wouldn't hurt.

  2. Don't use it!

Flea shampoo can be very toxic if not administered correctly.

Think about it.  It's purpose is to kill living organisms.

i know of several instances in which puppys and even kittens were killed when their owner used flea shampoo instead of regualr shampoo (read the fine print, and you will see that most sampoos are reccomended for a certain size/weight).

The bath can wait, don't use anything but ferret shampoo.

  3. The strengths of the toxins which help kill the fleas is too much for a ferret.  Please don't use dog shampoo, "people" shampoo or other shampoo not for ferrets.  Temporarily, you can just bathe your ferret in water and then drying him/her.  Also, you can order ferret shampoos through the mail so you won't have to make an extra trip.

  4. NO you need to give them FERRET shampoo

  5. No, dog shampoos often contain harsh chemicals that are safe for your dog but very harmful for a ferret. You don't actually have to use a flea shampoo to kill fleas, any soapy water will kill them. If you can't get a ferret or kitten shampoo, then go to your nearest grocery store and pick up a bottle of baby shampoo (I've only ever used Aveeno on my ferrets). Lather them up with the shampoo, let it sit for a couple minutes, then rinse. After your ferret is dry, comb him/her with a flea comb to pull off the dead fleas. I also recommend getting some Revolution (Frontline and Advantage are safe for ferrets, too, but Revolution kills and prevents more than just fleas and ticks) for your ferret (and any other pets in your house) to help get rid of the fleas.
