Can I use gun oil to lubricate and protect my knife?

I have an automatic knife that I really want to protect and keep clean, the joints are also a bit stiff and I was wondering if I could use gun oil to lubricate the joints and to protect the blade itself?

you can yes but gun oil is a bit dear, you can find a better oil cheaper you know, well not better but will do the same thing

Yes, so will machine oil (3in1)

Gun oil will work nicely on your knife.

YES  or white lithium grease.*

WD 40 works as well.

Leaves a nice protective film.

Will show fingerprints though.
