Can I use high efficiency laundry detergent in my regular washer?

My husband bought HE laundry detergent without even knowing..can I still use it in my regular washer?

Yes.

HE (high efficiency) detergent is ultra-concentrated and low-sudsing to prevent oversudsing front-loading washers.  

You will not need to use twice as much, and the low-sudsing action does not mean your clothes will be less clean.  Many HE detergents specifically say that they can be used in all types of washers.  

Some people like lots of suds because they think that means the clothes are getting clean, but in top-loading washers the "cleaning" actually goes on below the waterline.
