Question:

Can I use liquid Panacur prescribed for my cat on my dog? ?

They weigh the same and the ingredient (panacur) is the same one used in both species for treatment of tapeworms.

I am not looking for anyone to express the need to take the dog to the vet, etcetera, etcetera. I am looking for an answer from a professional such as a Vet or Vet Technician to supply me with the scientific answer of yes or no.

Thanks.

  1. http://www.petplace.com/drug-library/fen...

This site is the panacure (fenbendazole) site- Check it out... at the bottom it gives the dosage... be careful and make sure you have completed you kittys srcipt...

    Dosing Information

Medication should never be administered without first consulting your veterinarian.

Fenbendazole generally is not effective as a one-time dose. It is recommended that fenbendazole be given once a day for several consecutive days.

ie:] Dogs and cats, 25 mg per pound (50 mg/kg) daily for three consecutive days is usually effective.

The duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication and the development of any adverse effects. Be certain to complete the prescription unless specifically directed by your veterinarian. Even if your pet feels better, the entire treatment plan should be completed to prevent relapse or prevent the development of resistance.

    good luck

  2. Yes, you can. I'm not a vet, though, but I know for a fact that you can.
