I am frying some chicken tonight with a new recipe, will milk work as good as buttermilk? Because I don't have any.

  1. yes, just will add a different taste to it.

  2. If you don't have buttermilk you can make your own. 1/2 c. regular milk + 1 1/2 t. vinegar = 1/2 c. buttermilk.

  3. It will work but does not have that same good flavor...Buttermilk has a higher fat content and fat is flavor.  If you have 1/2 & 1/2 taht would be better than milk

  4. You should use eggs and breadcrumbs instead of milk/buttermilk...but if it's something else then I guess you  could or just go get some buttermilk...but for other foods such as biscuits you have to use buttermilk.

  5. You can - however an even better substitution is sour milk.

Take 1 c milk and add 1 - 1 1/2 t of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Whisk and let curdle for at least 5 mins. Then whisk it right before you use it and you're set.

I use this for vegan baking and I like the citrus juices and apple cider vinegar because of their mild flavor. For something savory as fried chicken, you could use a different vinegar and be just fine.

  6. milk is milk i use reg mild for butter mild pancakes so yeah u could
