I want to buy something from the ITunes Store online with my American credit card. I would have to log into ITunes Italia and the prices are all in euros. Can I do it?

  1. Yes, but with most credit cards you will have to pay 2% or 3% extra for the currency conversion.

  2. It depends on the accepted payment options of the on-line business.  Three main factors need to be established:

    1) verify with your bank that your card is linked to the international network (some banks "hot card"/freeze cards used at international sites without notifying them before hand.

    2) type of payment method: Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Diners Card are usually internationally accepted.

    3) Verify the terms for international charges: certain banks waive the 3% fee, others charge a flat amount fee.

To answer your question, check with your issuing bank to verify terms and conditions for using your card internationally.

  3. I don't know about itunes, but any Visa or Mastercard will allow you to buy something in a different currency form, but be aware that your bank may charge you an international transaction fee.

  4. Probably.

I've used my mastercard to buy off of Canada's Amazon web site.  No problem converting the money.  (In one case I was having the item delivered in Canada and this bypassed extra tax issues; in another I was ordering some items not available on Amazon US).
