Can I use my Camcorder Sony DCR-SR42 as a VCR to save TV shows?

I used to have a Sony Handicam DCR-TRV340 and I could to that with it, but here, it seems I can't, I connect it to the TV in the same way, using the provided cable and it saves what is in the lens, not the TV Input.

  1. No. The hard drive based DCR-SR42 does not have the AV-in feature. If it did, the instructions on how to do that would be in the manual and the AV port would have reference to AV-in capabilities. It does not.
