Can I use my Win Media Player to download tunes onto an ipod?

Niece has an ipod someone gave her. {ipod classic-80MG-5th ser} I have never used one. Can I download tunes from my Windows media player onto it? or Do I have to use itunes or something like that where you have to pay and sign up?

No, you have to use Itunes. it is free unless you buy stuff off of itunes. it should be self explanitory to sync music onto the Ipod.
