If you are over 60 and have a bus pass issued by your local council, you can use buses anywhere in the UK including London. However, once in London, if you wish to use the tubes, trams, or ferries, you will have to pay - only travel on the buses will be covered by your bus pass.

If you have a pensioner's pass - similar to the London Freedom Pass, I understand that you can use this on London buses.

As I understand it, all pensioner passes in UK will be valid on bus services right across the country - not sure what day or if they're valid all week or what. . . .just show your pass to the driver in London see what happens. . .at worst you'll be asked for the fair.

If you mean the over-60s concessionary pass, then yes you can - after 0930 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Since 1st April 2008 this concession has applied throughout England on local buses.

and if you need some help to figure out what bus to use, use the Transport for London journey planner at

www.tfl.gov.uk

underneath the journey planner there's a place where you can click for "advanced options" ... click on this, enter where you want to get to and from, then scroll down and un-tick all the options except the buses, then click search ... this will then give you the route using only the buses
