Can I use my friend's AAA card without anyone asking for an ID?

Will most likely get a card myself soon since my car is getting older, but need to get a discount on my trip tomorrow. Do people usually ask for an ID to confirm the name on the AAA card? Thanks guys!

  1. You have to show the card at the destination lodging to get the discount.  If the name you're registering with doesn't match the AAA card, not only don't you get the discount, but expect the hotel to keep the card and report it as stolen.  If breaking the law doesn't bother you, you can always impersonate your friend by registering with that name.  Just hope that someone doesn't ask to see your driver's license, unless your friend gives you that, too.  Many places ask to see it if you're parking a car in their lot.

  2. Membership benefits are provided only to members. When you are dealing with hotels or other places that offer a show your card and save discount you are dealing with an affiliate and not an actual AAA employee.  Affiliates are asked to verify that the membership card matches the drivers license of the person presenting the card. This however does not always happen.  You can try it, but you are taking a gamble.

  3. I use my dad's all the time to get my car towed, get discounts, etc and I've never had an issue.
