  1. yes, as long as the mouse and keyboard have usb connectors

  2. yes and linux is a wack not worth installing.

  3. yes you can use your keyboard and mouse provided they are usb. Just plug them into one of your PS3's USB slots and they should work.

As to what Linux is....I'm assuming your sorta knew to this sort of stuff, so i'll put it simply. Linux is basically a simple windows. I say simple because when you install it it has almost nothing on it. In another way this almost makes Linux VERY complicated, if you use Yellow Dog Linux (i'll use that as i have it) there is a function to allow you to install programmes automatically (like on windows) but many programmes do not support it so you have to install them yourself.

If you had to ask what Linux is i wouldn't go near it as it will frazzle your brain. Feel free to have a go lol. Just remember you have to format your PS3's hard drive beforeyou can install it.

  4. You can use USB keyboard and mouse for typing messages, browsing. It's a must-have for Linux, but you won't be able to use it for gaming.

As for Linux - it's a very good OS family (better than windows). Sony paid for the development of Yellow Dog - it's ok, but you need to have HDTV and it takes 10GB for it. You can install Ubuntu, Kubuntu and other members of Linux family. Note - PS3's GPU is locked - you won't be able to play 3D-accelerated games.
