  1. Hey grammy I am jealous. I imagine the have it set up for wifi so you probably can.

  2. it's pricey and so slow not worth it.

  3. Well, my laptop is pretty much permanently attached and it's been on all but one of my dozen or so cruises.  =)

That said, what's problematic is internet.  Most ships now have wi-fi in at least some part of the ship, and many have wi-fi in cabins.  It's typically $1 a minute, down to 40c/minute if you buy a package of a hundred minutes or so.

But if you do want to keep up with email, a laptop with an email program like Outlook is MUCH better than using web-based email on the ship's computers because you only pay for the time it takes to download/upload your messages.  You can read and write your replies later, off-line.

Also in a lot of ports you can go to internet cafes and use your laptop.

  4. Yes...!!

  5. Yes most cruise ships have wireless internet for very high rates. Check with your cruise line.

  6. Yes you can.  They charge for wi-fi service and it's pricey.  If you're only needing it for internet access, then I would suggest not taking your laptop (one more thing to carry) and I would go to an internet cafe or place while the ship is in port.  A lot of the wireless internet places in Mexico (popular port of call) will let you have 30 minutes of internet access for $1.  Much much cheaper than on the ship!

  7. yes, at a price

  8. It is very expensive and almost not worth it. Our kids told us. They went on a cruise and emailed us once, that was the end of it.
