Question:

Can I use my phone account to improve my credit score?

I have had my AT&T wireless phone account for almost 5 years and I was never late in my payments. Is there a way to get this shown on my credit report to improve my credit score? I heard that it is possible, but when I called AT&T, they said they don't do that.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

  1. The only things that bring you a credit score is having credit.

This can be in the form of a bank loan, a credit card, an auto loan or mortgage.

Try to open a credit card at a local merchant such as American Eagle or something like that.

If they deny you, don't apply all over the place.  It will kill your credit score.

  2. Not having a phone in your name will lower your credit score.  I am not sure if having one will increase it though.

  3. Husam S, I suggest you try calling a local credit rebuilding service. http://www.tipstoimprovecredit.com They should have some programs for you.

  4. No.  Cell phone accounts are not "credit."
