Can I use my psp as a video viewer for a Dvd player similar to using a TV?

I don't have the component thing yet, but i was wondering if i can connect the video and audio thingies to the dvd player and let me watch the content.

No, at least not by connecting the DVD player directly to the PSP.

You CAN do something similar though using the wireless network connection; SONY's LocationFree device will allow you to stream video from a tuner or other video source to the PSP quite nicely. There's also ways to do this via the internet too.
