  1. I was in Costa Rica last year.  Visa worked fine for all businesses that took credit cards.  Electric devices worked fine as well - though some place I went did have a funky kind of plug (older places).

  2. Most places in the touristy areas will accept credit cards. Visa is more widely accepted than MasterCard. Costa Rica uses the same electric plugs as in the US

  3. Costa Rica uses type A/B ac sockets which we use in the US. No adapter needed.

  4. You do not need a special adapter for your electronics... they use standard 110v AC outlets just like in the USA... be careful though, as the electric is a little flaky in some places, with frequent brown outs, black outs, and power surges that can fry your stuff. I have never had a problem with that myself though.

    VISA and AMERICAN EXPRESS is taken in all the major tourist spots... but as you get out into the boon docks some places do not have phone lines, thus, no credit cards. You need to cary cash for this reason.
