Can I use paypal for another currency?

I am in the US and want to buy an item from a site in the UK that accepts paypal. Will paypal just take the money from my checking account and convert it? If so do they charge me a fee?

it will convert it for you and tell you the amount before you pay i do it all the time.

PayPal will take the US Dollar equivalent from your account.  Be sure you know what that will be as it is around 2 US Dollars for every 1 Sterling Pound.  In other words if you buy a 100 pound item, it will cost you approximately $200 US.  They will deposit it to the seller in their currency of choice and the fee is charged to the seller.
