Can I use pencil in my scrapbooks?

I know you are supposed to use an acid free pen, but I can't stand writing in pen. Would it damage my scrapbooks if I used pencil? Also, would pencil be as long-lasting as pen? Thanks for any help.

you COULD, but pencil will likely fade over time. Pens are far more long lasting
