Can I use real products in my comic or is it copyright infringement?

Let's say I have a comic. Then my character is drinking Sprite, but I state that I didn't create Sprite and that it's copyrighted by the Coca-Cola Company. Am I allowed to do that? Or do I have to make it a generic brand?

Plus the scene was in McDonald's. I don't know if that's a problem too.

  1. well im not sure about comics but i know u have to ask the companies for permission to put their brand on a movie but im not sure if you goin to put it on a comic actually i have never seen a comic that has them kind of brands just make up your own brands like for mc donalds u can put Mac Dollaz and for Coca Cola u can put Rock'a Cola!!!! u know some ideas yeah man make up your own stuff!!!!

  2. If it is just a small production (less than 100 or so people viewing) you shouldn't need to worry about such things.

Even if it is in the local newspaper I doubt they'd care too much, you are advertising their product after all.   unless of course it is some type of hate-comic that they wouldn't want their name associated with, I think you are shouldn't need worry.
