I'm looking at purchasing a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and just saw something online that says I would have to use premium grade gas. I don't really like that idea with the price of gas what it is. So can I use regular?

  1. i would think so but not sure

  2. You could use regular, but you may get poor gas mileage and it will not run the way it is supposed to. I would just buy the octane booster for  ~$1.00 at second hand stores like Big Lots and Ollies. I never had a problem running that in my old car, which required premium gas. Cars are now made with a knock sensor, and with regular it senses denotation and does not advance the timing causing the car to not run as well as it should and get poor gas mileage.

  3. yes you can use reg. gas

  4. there is a story posted on yahoo news today about using regular unleaded in your car.  today's cars don't have to run on premium every fill up.  below is the link for the story.

  5. yes you do the v6's have high compression and they need the high octane gas.
