  1. Sho nuff.

  2. Not with the receiver on.     Not the best reception try it it will not hurt anything. Actually you need a 30 db amplifier from radio shack

  3. no

  4. yuppp you sure can

  5. If your TV is digital, and has a built in ATSC tuner, maybe!

You might be able to grab OTA (over the air signals), but I don't know for sure, with your old dish, but I thought they had to be pointed a certain direction.

I have HD cable, and HD DVD, but have yet to mess with Satellite, but with the price of cable and Comcrap sucking...I might switch!

  6. No.  Your satellite dish is designed to receive signals only from  specific satellite transmitters.  The size of the dish and the operation of the LNB (part of the receiver mounted on the dish) are on an entirely different frequency than that of a transmitted signal from a TV broadcast station.  The amplifier that is mounted on the dish needs to be powered through the set top receiver.  Now you would have to purchase and install an external roof top antenna or try to work off  of a "rabbit ear" antenna.

  7. Who knows give it a try,you will probably need to pay for satellite service like the rest of us.
