Can I use scholarship money to buy something else like a pc or gaming console?

i am receiving the scholarship as a check to me.

It depends...there are some out there for college expesences so a pc does count but for gaming....your pushing it!

If you do not conform to the agreed terms of the scholarship, they may ask for the money back.  You might want to check into it.

If a PC is required for your college, then it may well be okay to use the scholarship money for that.  All scholarships that I have seen have some stipulations; you need to check about the PC.

A word of advice: put your energies toward your school, not toward your games.  If buying a gaming console will tempt you to play and not study (be honest with yourself), then put off the gaming console.

It really depends on the scholarship and how closely they're watching their money.  If you're just getting a big check at the beginning of the year, then probably yes.  I would just caution you to wait until you realize just how expensive college is.  At least wait until you've bought your first semester's books to go blow your scholarship check.

One of my companies gives away thousands of dollars in scholarships and it is students like you that make us send the money directly to the school or stop giving out scholarships altogether.

Why would I want to take money out of my pocket and give it to someone to go buy and xbox or ps3?

That is a ridiculous question and you should tear your scholarship check in half and mail it back to whomever sent it to you with a letter of apology. You should be ashamed of yourself and I certainly hope you were not a winner of one of my scholarships. Oh wait, you couldn't be as I require an essay and you probably don't even know how to spell essay.
