Can I use tanning oil in a tanning salon?

I am going tanning in a stand up bed. They said some people use lotion but will tanning oil work? I have one with no spf and one with an spf of 4. Any suggestions?

  1. When indoor tanning you want to use a lotion that is for indoor tanning not outdoor.  Also, when indoor tanning you do not need a spf.  A lot of salons will not allow oils since it damages the bulbs.


  2. I don't suggest it, but it won't hurt you and because you are going in a stand up booth instead of a bed, you don't have to worry about the oil being bad for the bed. If you ever go in a lay down bed DO NOT use tanning oil because most contain mineral oils that crack the acrylics and block some of the UV rays once on the acrylics. An indoor tanning lotion will be better though becuase it is specially formulated for indoor tanning. But if oil is what you want to use then that's fine.
