Can I use the Iphone with out paying Monthly?

I am currently on a family plan with cingular and I want to buy a unlocked iphone off of my friend.. WIll i be able to just put in my sim card and use the phone without paying the extra monthly fee? Currently on my family plan we have all txting, and data blocked.. is there still a possibilty that I will get charged for using the Phone?

You would be able to use the phone itself, but not internet.

The iphone is a really neat device, and most of what it does relies on internet. This being said, I don't understand why you would possibly want to not have the additional service. It's only 20 per month.

Let's put it this way:It's possible, but it is also possible to buy a 50 inch plazma tv and not have cable. Sure, I guess you could watch DVD's... but doesn't it sound a little silly?

most likely or u can get it prepaid or at another service. my brother has an iphone with t mobile. he also hacked it to do more on it lol

You will be able to talk on it, but if you're on a family plan, and the internet and texting is blocked, that means you will not be able to access the internet on the Iphone either.

Since many things that you would want to use an IPhone to do are internet based, you'd probably be paying a lot of money to have a cool looking phone that will not do anything but let you talk.

Unlimited Iphone data package, which gives you unlimited internet access is 30.00 monthly - text if you wanted to add, ranges from 5.00 for 200 msgs, 15.00 1500 msgs, or 20.00 unlimited - or entire family can have unlimited family talk texting for 30.00 -this would cover text on the Iphone also, but you still would have to have a data package.

You can activate the 2G Iphone as a prepaid, but not the 3G.
