Can I use the USB jack on the back of a DirectTv H20 Receiver w/ A hard drive for Tivo like recording?

Unfortunately this isn't what this USB jack was designed for.  The USB jack on Direct TV receiver boxes and digital cable boxes is designed to allow a technician to modify/upgrade your box firmware locally.  If your receiver lacks the firmware/hardware to be used as a DVR you can't make it into one.
