Can I use the coxial input as a surround sound input for my home theatre system?

I own a Sony DAV-DX155 surround sound system and I now know that I cannot hookup any other devices to input in 5.1 surround sound (such as a PS3). I noticed there is a coxial input for a fm antenna. I researched and found that this input is a digital 5.1 input. Can I use this input from my Sumsung Plasma TV to get full surround sound from anything hooked up to the TV?

Wrong type of coaxial. That connector is a RF connector that uses coaxial cable. Not a digital coax for 5.1 as that will ONLY EVER BE a RCA type connector.

According to the manual - your system accepts RCA L/R stereo audio inputs and stereo-mini jack like headphones.

That FM Antenna connection is for 75 Ohm FM only.

Most HTiB's are like this, very few inputs. When you upgrade go with separates, you don't need to spend much to get a great separate system.

The coaxial is an FM radio antenna  only.  To get surround sound, find the "tv out" or "audio out" on the back of your tv.  The plugs should be red, white, and yellow (called the component cables). For sound, you only need the red and white. Now find the "tv in" or "audio in" or "video 1". Whatever it is, make sure it is "in".  Once it is plugged up, turn the tv and console on. You will probably have to select the correct input on the console to get tv sound through your system. Good luck!

you can use coax w/ RCA plug adapters and you ll get stereo, the only way to get digital 5.1 is with a digital optical audio cable
