Can I use the guitar hero 3 guitar on rock band?

I have a ps2 and also i have Guitar hero 3 legends of rock with the wireless guitar ( it came with it in the box), my guitar is white and it has black in the center. I am thinking about getting rock band but i dont know if my guitar will work for rocvk band

as long as you get the game rock band for the ps2 it should work fine, i've known people who did the same with other games systems such as xbox (even the ps2 itself) and the games are set up the same way and the buttons are the same colors and order on the neck.
