Can I use the old british driver 's license in Chile?

Or do i have to ge the one with pohotograph? Can a british person drive in Chile? For how long?

  1. You need a Internacional Driver License, for drive and for rent a car.

    Carabineros to control this in the roads.

    If you make it valid your license you should go to Auto Club of Chile.


  2. Under the provisions of the Warsaw Convention you require a full photo UK/EU approved driving licence. With that you can drive in Chile (as a visitor) for a maximum of 12 calendar months. If you move there to live your licence will only be valid for 3 calendar months

  3. You will be fine, they dont worry about documents over in South america, manyana rules the day. Having your old one would be more than sufficient.

    BTW i only just got my photo driving license having been stopped by the old bill. It took less that a week to come back, so if you have time apply for a photo version, not that youll need it.
