I'm making some breakfast burritos to take on a golf trip this weekend and I want to be able to heat them quickly in a microwave. I was going to wrap each one in wax paper, but I started wondering if the wax would melt in the oven and mess them up...Can I use wax paper in a microwave oven?

  1. Yes you can use wax paper in the microwave.  There isn't that much wax and you should definitely NOT overheat your burritos anyway.  They will be a goopy mess way before your wax paper gets involved!

  2. It is recommended, and since I know it has always been used.

  3. Yes I use it all the time instead of paper towels... to top bowls from splashing while cooking in the microwave, as far as putting it all around something? It may make the wax paper hotter, try it out on something first before you do this trip GOOD LUCK

  4. Certainly!  It's been used for decades!

    HTH.

  5. the best to use is paper towels ,,, but you can use wax paper

  6. Wax paper is made for use in the microwave, so no worries!  Because the paper is covered with thin coatings of wax on both sides, it is moistureproof and nonstick, so perfect for wrapping your burritos.  In the future, if you are covering something liquid to prevent spatters, try crumpling up the wax paper then flattening it out a bit before covering your dish.  This will help the paper stay in place better.

Wax paper is also great for lining cake pans for baking to make it easier to remove the cake after baking.  You can also use it under items to make clean up easier, such as when decorating cupcakes or cookies.

  7. Yes, I use waxed paper in the microwave for all kinds of things.  Like reheating bread, covering a dish that may pop out, wrap potatoes for baking....etc.

  8. Yes, don't worry.

  9. I always do.

  10. Wax paper is exactly what you SHOULD use in the microwave - especially when you want something to stay moist while you're heating it.  Paper towels are fine if you want them to absorb the moisture while heating (like bacon)....

  11. watch the temp

    since it could melt

  12. yes but remember tin foil is a big NO.

  13. you could use parchment paper or wax paper. Parchment paper is used for baking many times to keep things from sticking to the pan. You probably could also use freezer paper to wrap them in. That has one side that is coated so the things dont stick when you freeze em.
