  1. I find that google does this very well. Get the address for the Sheraton and the addres of China Town or one establishment in China Town and get directions.

  2. Definately!  Just down King to Spadina (Eastwards). Head north on Spadina and you're in the heart of Chinatown. Maybe a 15 min walk. Kensington is a little further east in the College/Spadina area.

  3. Yes it is  an  easy 20  minute walk. But Queen street will also  grab your attention, with it's unique shops, like the Condom Store, and the studios for Much Music , and MTV,  at Queen and John streets.

Go out the main hotel entrance on Queen street. Turn left ( west ) and start walking, you are  looking for Spadina Avenue. Turn right ( north )  at the corner of Queen and Spadina and  walk north to wards Dundas Street ..

Toronto has FIVE Chinatowns, and the oldest  one is  spread out along Spadina and along  Dundas.  Just to the west of Spadina ( two blocks ) is Kensington Market, a 6 square block area of ethnic stores, and cafes and food purveyors. Want to  by a live chicken ? Or  100 year old eggs ? Get it all at Kensington . it has been a  Toronto ethnic enclave since the 1870's.

My favourite Chinese restaurant   is the Asian Legend , located 2 blocks east of Spadina on the north side of Dundas. Modern and full of ................Chinese eaters. All ways a good sign, right ? Their menu is extensive, and I reccomend the  "General Tao chicken ". Note the red pepper  symbols  on the side of the menu pages, the more red pepper signs ,the hotter the dish will be .

Chinatown and Kensington can engage you all day, if you let it.

When you are done, go back this way

. East on Dundas , and watch for  these landmarks along the way. The  Art  Gallery of Ontario, at Dundas and Mc Caul. Toronto Police station number 52 on Dundas east of university. At Dundas and University, turn right ( south ) and walk down the widest street  in Toronto, which has 18 different  gardens and fountains  in the middle  of the street. On the left as you walk south is the US Consulate,  note the security barriers in front of it  while  across the street is the main courthouse in Toronto, with no security barriers. .

At Queen and University, look for the wonderfull ornate building that is Osgoode Hall , a part of the University of Toronto Law School. It has a unique wrought iron fence around it, which was designed to keep the cows out, when it was first built in 1843. Check out the gates, that admit people, but keep out  cows.

Just east of Osgoode Hall is the Toronto City Hall, and surrounding it is Nathan Phillips Square,  named after our first Jewish mayor, elected in 1959. The twin towerrs  hold  the city adminsitration offices  and the city council chamber.

Your hotel is just across the street.

Enjoy your visit  to my city.
