Can I watch the same channels in another state with my direct tv card?

Can I just bring the card or do I need the whole box?

  1. I worked for DirecTV corp for 4 years... You can take your receivers with you anywhere in the US and hook them up to a satellite and get service just fine... However... If you pull the card out by itself then no... You can not take the card out and put it in a different receiver due to a specific RID # for each unit paired to each card. If you get to the location and your receivers don't seem to be working, pay attention to the error message... you can go online type in the message and it will typically walk you through getting this fixed. However, I am going to be honest with you... Most people don't know how to align a satellite dish... So if you don't know how or it's not already done... I wouldn't suggest this... It will be more headache then it's worth... Hopefully this helps... Good luck!
