I'm getting married April 11, 2009 which is Easter weekend. Is it appropriate to wear a seersucker suit for a semi-casual outdoor wedding?

  1. As much as I do like seersucker suits, I would have to advise you against wearing one for your wedding.  If you were a guest, yes that would be fine.  Wear something dark, even if you are not wearing a tuxedo.  Assuming your bride will be wearing white, this makes a striking contrast and will look great in the pictures.  Bottom line is this:  if your bride agrees with the seersucker suit and she is wearing something EQUALLY casual (very important), then there's no rule saying you can't.

  2. Of course.  Why wouldn't it be?  Wedding ritual in the US has gotten completely out of hand.  Do what you want to do.

  3. Umm, no. Have you run this idea past your fiance yet? I have a feeling she will say no also. Casual wedding or not, you should still be alittle dressed up for it. You can wear Seersucker anytime you like....this is a once in a lifetime thing ( well, hopefully ). It's totally your choice, but I wouldn't like it if my husband did it.

  4. Personally - if I were a man - I wouldn't.  I know that the culture of weddings and the attire has changed over the years, but you should probably consult your bride to be before you jump into that kind of suit.  You might hear some snickering in the background as you say your "I do's".

  5. You wear what your fiance wants you to wear.  She's the decider on everything about the wedding, including what you wear.

  6. I liked the response of asking your fiance.  She would be better to ask.

  7. its your wedding ...wear what you want!

  8. You could wear whatever you like, it's your wedding.  BUT you should get the bride's input on it first!  Not that she should have the last say on everything, but she should at least have input on it -- and then come to a compromise.

  9. You can dress however you like -- it's your wedding, dear.

The only breach of etiquette would be if you were naked and the ceremony was in public.  :-)

  10. People can wear what they want for their weddings. I am sure in the 1960's there were a lot of Hippie style weddings. Everything goes. This seems harmless compared to some things people do to exchange their vows.. some even did that under water.. the vicar who gave the vows had to be a diver and a vicar or go up in a hot air baloon and do it there... it's all possible.
