Can I whipp the cream in a blender?

I asked yahoo right now if i could use a egg whisker they said it willl take to long, someone responded that i could use a blender. what do you think? i dont want to wreck my cream.

I've always used a mixer, so I don't have an answer for you.  But am very interested to hear the results -- if you try it, could you tell us how it worked out?

I can understand some of the concerns about overwhipping, since there's a very fine line between whipped cream and butter.  But I can also understand not wanting to whip it completely by hand with just a whisk (my arm would fall off before I was finished, I think).  One possibility would be to blend it it short bursts, checking frequently, and just as starts to thicken (but before it is completely whipped), pour it out of the blender jar and into a bowl, and finish whipping it by hand.  That way you don't kill your arm, but you are also able to control the end of the process so that you don't overwhip.  This is just a guess, though, since I've never tried it that way.

If you use an egg whip it will take longer than a blender  because you're doing it by hand, however, using an egg whip will guarantee that your cream is whipped perfectly because you can see how it's going  and stop without having to push any buttons.Using a blender will guarantee it gets done faster but it isn't as thorough as an egg whip.

Yes you could, but in the final stages you may want to just pulse it.

Ya, I think that would work fine. I've always used an electric mixer though (hand-held or stand).

possibly.  Usually, a blender will not incorperate enough air but the newer blenders may be different.

You can but be careful or you could end up with butter instead of whipped cream.
