Can I wire 2 4-ohm DVC subs to 1 ohm?

I have 2 Alpine type r's and i am looking to power them with the same RMS as they can handle (1000W) but i want to know how many ohms i can wire them at because a 1000 w @ 1 ohm amp is cheaper than a 1000 w @ 2 ohm amp

Any amp suggestions other than that? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money

  1. Kenwood KAC-9103D 900rms@2ohms $170 at sonicelectronix.com good brand Class d Mono amp.  Getting stable 1 ohm amp is more pricey.

  2. Type Rs are 500 watts RMS each so you'll want a 1000 watt RMS @ 1 ohm amp.

    Wiring diagram below.

  3. you wire the    - to -   and the  + to +    make sure the amp is 1 ohm stable

517 you do not know what your talking about, so do not give advice on things you do not know about. I have 2 13Ov.2 subs dual 4 ohm wired down to 1 OHM, I have no problems at all. The only time that you will run into problems is when the amp is not 1 OHM stable.

Now for the question at hand:

You will want a 2000 watts rms amp that is 1 OHM stable. Cruch makes them if you looking to stay within a budget and they are CEA-2006 compliant.

US AMPS also makes great amps that are 1 OHM stable.

  5. At a 1000 watts 1 or 2 ohms of resistance is asking for trouble
