I will be moving to England with my girlfriend in a couple months and am trying to determine whether or not I will be able to work when I arrive. I have found several websites with differing answers. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  1. You need to apply for a working visa

  2. Is your girlfriend Japanese? If so, probably not.

  3. If you are a citizen to a country that belongs to the E.U. then yes. Otherwise you need a working visa.

  4. What nationality are you? Cannot answer only with the information given.

No, if you are from the US you need a work permit.

  5. you need a visa just to come here - a tourist visa lasts about 6 months, and then you'd need to leave

if you want to work, you need to apply for a work permit - but it is unlikely to be easy, as new rules mean that permits are only given to non-uk or eu if there is a job that cannot be filled

  6. As you are from the US, you will need a work visa to work in the UK.

  7. It depends where you are from. If you live in Europe, then yes. If not, you will need to obtain a work visa from the Home Office.
