Can IP addresses show u the location of someone?

I have this chatmate who's from egypt but his IP addy didnt match his location.. would that be possible?

  1. yes. in mcafee total protection there is a feature named visual tracer. just enter the ip and trace it. mcafee show the location and some more.


  2. It's possible he's using some kind of proxy server to anonymize his Internet usage.
