Question:

Can Idiocy be blamed on "Global Warming"?

Algore now says the Burma Cyclone was because of "Global Warming", a couple of days ago scientist were telling us that a surfer being attacked by a Shark in the ocean was because of "Global Warming"

Do these claims require proof or do the global warming lemmings just accept the spoken word as proof?

It's pure idiocy to blame everything on "global warming" unless your intent is to scare the weak into submission.

Why are these people not held accountable for their never ending stream of failed predictions? From more Hurricanes after Katrina, to Dr. Hawkings saying temperatures will reach 450 degs and rain sulfuric acid, to melting permafrost causing thermal runaway, to NYC being underwater, believers never make a correct call.

Why do we let these idiots call the shots? Nothing they predict comes true, and none of their "solutions" will either because what they are trying to fix just isn't real.

It's time they just got used to being wrong and made way for a change.

  1. Al "The Goracle" Gore is just an ambulance chaser in it's highest form.

Jeff Emanuel wrote this of Al Gore's statement:

Is there a better example of a modern ambulance chaser-writ-large than former Veep and Nobel Prize winner Albert Gore? It's quite a testament to the man's less-than-obvious flair for the dramatic and hyperbolic that he has been able to far surpass the "cottage industry" stage and create an actual worldwide movement out of his alarmist, unprovable warnings and admonitions about the invisible, silent threat that is ManBearPig Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW).

It's so easy, too. All Gore has to do is wait for any day that feels a little warm or a little cool, or a day when the sun shines or is obscured by clouds, or when there is hail or sleet, and say that it was caused by his personal bugaboo, AGW. His *real* money is made, though, when a storm comes.

That's right, a *storm.* Just like Earth has had for, oh, the entirety of its existence. Remember thunderstorms, tornadoes, cyclones? Thought so -- because they happened when you were growing up, just like they did when your parents were growing up, just like they did in the days before the internal combustion engine (called the "greatest threat facing our planet" by Gore in his 1980 book Earth in the Balance).

Remember 30 years ago when 'scientists' were saying this:

•“...civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind,” biologist George Wald, Harvard University, April 19, 1970.

    • By 1995, “...somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” Sen. Gaylord Nelson, quoting Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, Look magazine, April 1970.

    • Because of increased dust, cloud cover and water vapor “...the planet will cool, the water vapor will fall and freeze, and a new Ice Age will be born,” Newsweek magazine, January 26, 1970.

    • The world will be “...eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age,” Kenneth Watt, speaking at Swarthmore University, April 19, 1970.

    • “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” biologist Barry Commoner, University of Washington, writing in the journal Environment, April 1970.

    • “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from the intolerable deteriorations and possible extinction,” The New York Times editorial, April 20, 1970.

    • “By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half...” Life magazine, January 1970.

    • “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

    • “...air pollution...is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.

    • Ehrlich also predicted that in 1973, 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution, and that by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans would be 42 years.

    • “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.

    • “By the year 2000...the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America and Australia, will be in famine,” Peter Gunter, North Texas State University, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.

  2. Excuses are like butts, everyone has one. And in this case, we shouldn't let their excuses influence our decisions about global warming and what's really happening even though we have absolutly no idea what's going on.

  3. Al Gore, or anyone pushing or promoting his ideas are not credible.

He can say that two plus two equals five, however, that does not make it so.

    "Global Warming" is not man-made.

It's absurd to say that humans are causing the Earth to heat up.

It is also absurd to say that Carbon Dioxide (CO2) "is a toxic pollutant" and that it's dangerous for us.

The Sun is getting warmer, and thus heating up all planets in the solar system.

  4. It has long been hypothesized that the evolutionary development of our species intelligence was enhanced by moving to cooler climates.  Those with the mental capacity to survive in the cold were able to reproduce and pass their mental traits on.

It's also been hypothesized that our modern civilizations, allows those too ignorant to survive on their own, to pass their lack of mental traits on.  Thus, in effect, the global warming that's occurred since the ice ages, which enabled modern agriculture and the industrial revolution, has probably caused a rise in idiocy.

  5. In your case apparently.

  6. No, but AGW can be blamed on idiots who are afraid of their own shadows, er... footprints.

  7. It is all part of a big orchestated show.  Gore is just a puppet of the shadow government to maintain the masses confused & dumb.

The government controls the weather, weather disasters, floods, etc.

    My 2 cents.

  8. Algore uses every tragedy to jump in front of the cameras.  How sad he continues to make money from others misery.

Hey!  That makes him a genuine ambulance chaser.

global warming is just a money making scam for Algore and his minions.

  9. Rocket Squirrel said:

"And by the way, contrary to what one of your responders stated, Co2 is a toxic compound... that's why your body, and mine, and everyone else who breathes, expels it with every breath, trading it for a lung-full of fresh air. In your blood stream, Co2 mixed with water forms another toxic compound, H2Co3, otherwise known as carbonic acid, with a pH of 2.1. But don't take my word for it, spend two minutes looking it up, and in the process upgrade the value of your opinions. "

CO2 is a toxic compound? Of course it is, and so is everything else. As some of my friends in the medical field like to say "its the quantity that makes the poison". And in reality, too much CO2 isn't toxic to humans by itself, but it does mean a lower concentration of O2, which is harmful. But I believe that we can tolerate CO2 concentrations up to 5000ppm.

But you see, CO2 is necessary for us humans to live: When CO2 enters the body, a majority is converted to H2CO3, which typically converts to HCO3- (bicarbonate) and a hydrogen ion, all three of which (H2CO3, HCO3-, H+) are needed by the body to help regulate pH.

And of course, you know that CO2 is necessary for photosynthesis too, right? If the concentration falls below 200ppm, photosynthesis is severely hindered.

P.S. If you are going to use chemical formula as shorthand, please write carbon dioxide as CO2 and not "Co2". This is not a discussion on 2 Cobalt atoms.

  10. Made way for a change to what?

And which idiots are calling the shots, and which shots are they calling?

I'm sorry, but "The government controls the weather" gets thumbs ups? Wow. Really? You all give the government that much credit? I mean, that's cool and all. But as far as conspiracy theories go...

  11. Their philosophy is throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.  I think they figure that they will win a few people with each hot button they toss out there.  Sad to say - many people fall for it.

  12. Since global warming caused your question and its enthusiastic repsonses, I'd have to conclude that the answer to your question is...

    yes.

    ---

As for your claim that Al Gore blamed the cyclone on global warming, he said it is an example of "consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming".

Clearly it's consistent with, not necessarily caused by, global warming.  Is English not your first language, or are you just trying to put words in his mounth that he did not say?

    ---

For 20 years, scientists predict more extreme weather.  A deadly cyclone hits.  Yet people flock to the Internet to agree with the statement "Nothing they predict comes true"!

    Definitely yes.

  13. None of you have studied science past high school, secondly most enviromentalists truly are a bunch of idiots that I wouldn't trust the diffrence between left and right.

Global warming is real (it just isn't comprehendable for "average joe" as a threat yet since well like I said you'd need some insight into natural science for it to make sense) so I don't really expect anything to be done with it until it hits us in the face and all we can do then is hope it's reversible (we probably won't live long enough to see this day though).

Life on this planet and the enviroment that allows it simply is very very circumstancial and we really should try to look after it a bit better but that's just how life is people will always take things for granted until it leaves them.

  14. Dear "Dr. Jello,"

I would be curious to learn where you took your training in earth/life sciences; eg. biology, ecology, meteorology and so on?  From the tone and text of your "question" and the vapid nature of most of the responses you've collected so far, I don't believe I'd be far off the mark by saying most of you responders couldn't tell their asses from third base.

While all of us are indeed entitled to have any opinion we wish to carry around, regardless of its validity, some opinions are worth more than others... and that's a fact, not opinion.  I doubt any of the people you and your responders refer to (such as Al Gore) blame "everything" on global warming.  Making bonehead comments like that is also an example of "idiocy."

If you understood anything regarding climate change, air movement, weather patterns, etc., you might be able to note how the rate of change in several of these indicators has increased dramatically in recent decades, and correlates closely with steady ( and increasing) buildups of industrial waste gasses released into the atmosphere.  And by the way, contrary to what one of your responders stated, Co2 is a toxic compound... that's why your body, and mine, and everyone else who  breathes, expels it with every breath, trading it for a lung-full of fresh air.  In your blood stream, Co2 mixed with water forms another toxic compound, H2Co3, otherwise known as carbonic acid, with a pH of 2.1.  But don't take my word for it, spend two minutes looking it up, and in the process upgrade the value of your opinions.

But I'm not on this planet to educate you or your thick-headed responders.  And the items I've pointed out in this short note are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the "idiocy" I read in your and your responders' comments on the state global warming.  The sad fact probably is that none of you knows the first thing about the subject on which you all seem to have such strong opinions opinions.  I only hope you and all the other "idiots" never get to "call the shots" past writing about subjects on which you know nothing, then advertising your ignorance on web sites.  Maybe it's you who needs to get used to being wrong.

  15. Dr Jello, I knew right from the start it would be claimed caused by global warming.

God f*cking dammit... They say every natural disaster is cuz of global warming.

  16. Do you think 20-30 years is long enough for the the arrogant to learn the definition of humility?  It's beyond our control, and the facts speak for them self. I just refuse to sit, at the same table as those that pronounce doom so readily.

  17. Jello,

I guess you get your kicks preying on the naive and uninformed.  There are volunteer opportunities in your community, I'm sure, that might provide you with far more satisfaction than you can surely derive from posting vapid questions such as these. Give back to the community, as it were.

I'm not stupid enough to believe that the thousands in programs at MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, John Hopkins, Yale, and scores of other prestigious institutions are "idiots."  That thousands in governments at all levels of U.S. government and governments across the planet are "idiots."  That the majority of climate scientists and scientists in other disciplines are "idiots."

I live in California, one of the states that isn't waiting for the federal government to get its act together.  We are leading the way, setting examples, providing research.  I'll toss you a few sites in case you get tired of looking in the mirror.

Change is coming.  Change is here.

  18. Blaming things on global warming is like blaming things on George Bush, you can blame all you want, but you know deep inside that it isn't their fault.

  19. The entire AGW theory has no proof, so why would they need proof for the outlandish claims?

  20. I heard Mike Malloy saying that Burma was known as the "rice bowl of the world."  Thanks to the cyclone, a country that can feed itself now has a shortage of food--and prices will now go up even higher!  How convenient!

I highly recommend "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" by Naomi Klein.  It documents a disturbing and growing trend of using disasters, both "real and perceived," in order to "restructure economies" and make huge profits.

  21. NASA has reported that the shift of the PDO from warm to cool.   "The shift in the PDO can have significant implications for global climate, affecting Pacific and Atlantic hurricane activity, droughts and flooding around the Pacific basin, the productivity of marine ecosystems, and global land temperature patterns. "

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroo...

We are headed for global cooling, and that will cause more extreme weather events.  So expect the talk to shift from global warming, to climate change.  With more extreme weather coming up, get use to it.
