I have a friend in Vietnam that I'd like to send some money. I'm in Canada. Can the international money orders bought here be cashed in Vietnam without any problems? If not, how can I mail money over there?

  1. Never ever send cash,it is illegal and can be kept by customs.Western Union is best,or if your Friend as a bank a/c you could send a check.

  2. just western union the money - do not rely on mail delivery in vietnam.

you can send dongs instead of dollars and it could be there within a few hours.

i believe this to be the safest and easiest option to be available.

  3. There won't be any problem for sending money there. all you need to do is go to Western Union and tell a banker you need to send money to vietnem. He/she will tell you what to do. Good luck!

  4. You can use Western Union bank to transfer or ask your friend to open a USD bank account at a local bank and ask him to send you account detail then you can transfer to this account.

  5. Speak with your bank and/or post office first regardless of how you send the money.

  6. No problem, Talk to Bank manager, he will arrange everything legally for you

  7. Check wiith your post office. They will be able to tell you what the regulations are  forsending money.

  8. We have sent money via Western Union.  Cheers

  9. In addition to Western Union, there is a new company called Money Gram that I used just this week to send money to my wife. It was much cheaper and just as reliable. Just make sure to ask where the nearest "pay-out" office is.

For larger sums of money, (anything over $200 usd), I use my local bank. Their wire fee is ONLY $10 for any amount of money. Check the small, local banks to find the best wire rates, you may be surprised at how cheap it is.  Your friend will need a bank account and you will need the wire destination numbers.

    Good Luck
