Question:

Can Iraq vets ignore their oath to support the constitution?

Being a soldier in Iraq is noble, but it doesn't take away the fundamental rights of the people who vote.

All true soldiers, took an oath to support the Constitution. If American people don't support the war, then they have the right to say so; and, to vote their conscience.

Being a POW, or a soldier doesn't mean that you're above the voting population - this is a democracy.

Vets -- support the Constitution. You took the oath.

Stop whining about all of us who believe the war is wrong.

  1. People also have the right to voice their options; looks like your the one whining also :)

  2. No, they cannot "ignore" their oath.

Your thesis is poorly thought out.  I suggest you actually read the oath of enlistment.....

I, (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (So help me God.)

  3. Hmm...no real point to your babbling. I know you're trying really hard to be a big girl, but you come across as very uneducated about the issues. I still have no idea what you were really asking.

  4. I am an Iraqi war vet, and I think the Iraq war is not right. Your prejudice shows by your lack of information of the military people serving in Iraq.

  5. Statistically I gotta wonder how many of the people like this that claim we should "support the Constitution" have ever even bothered to read it.  This person obviously made an emotionally based decision and is trying to use flawed logic to justify her lack of courage.

  6. I'm not certain if you're trying to make a statement or ask a question here, but no, we don't ignore the Constitution.

  7. Your rant makes little sense… I’m guessing what you are trying to say is that a vet can be against the war, is that right? If so, sure, ok, thank you for notifying us of your position.

"I've heard enough of your self-righteousness. Its time for me to speak my mind."

It may be time but it is not the place. This is a questions and answers forum not a "I feel like ranting" forum. In other words, if you wish to rant, take it elsewhere.
