Can Javier Hernandez prove to be the new Wayne Rooney for the Red Devils?
When the previous season ended, many clubs thought that this was going to be a perfect opportunity for them to get new players on their side. Teams which failed to impress during their previous season, just like
Liverpool of the Premier League and Juventus of the Italian League thought that this could be a great opportunity to strengthen their squad, so that they can make it to the greatest stage, the Champions League.
Manchester United has been winning too many seasons since the English Premier League started. United still holds a record of 11 Premier League titles and are now tied with Liverpool in terms of total number of English League’s titles.
They both stand on 18 as Manchester United’s dreams were shattered last year, when Chelsea took the title to put their names in the English history, as the Red Devils were left back on the number 2 spot. Chelsea scored a record number of goals, which crossed
3 digits. No team has ever reached that mark and that is definitely a great achievement.
In the previous season, the fans thought that Manchester United might not withstand so much pressure without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the top scorer for the club. Cristiano Ronaldo was bought by the “amazing” Spanish side Real
Madrid and the dream move of the Portuguese captain was completed before the next season started. Even though Ronaldo had an injury plagued season on the Spanish side, he still managed to pull off 34 goals in only 36 matches. He almost scored in all the matches
that he played for Real Madrid, and proved the world that he was definitely a man who cannot be counted out. On the other hand, there was only man who was able to come out on top for Alex Ferguson’s side. It was the Red Devil’s number 10, Wayne Rooney. With
his amazing pace and great finishing ability, he managed to impress everyone by scoring lots of goals for the club. Even though Wayne Rooney suffered an injury eventually towards the end of the season, he still managed to bag himself 34 goals in all competitions.
It was Didier Drogba, however, who took home the golden boot as he scored 29 goals in the English Premier League as Wayne Rooney was able to score 26.
Whenever his side needed a man to turn things round, it was always Wayne Rooney who used to step up and score goals for them to win the match. There were many times when Manchester United even came back from behind to win a match,
just like the match against Arsenal where United came back from 1-0, and eventually won the match 2-1, with the help of Wayne Rooney. With Wayne Rooney being in top form throughout the English Premier League, he was called-up for the English team as Fabio
Capello had faith in him, as he was injected into the starting 11 of the English side.
With Wayne Rooney in the squad, many thought that the English side might do wonders as midfielders like Gerrard and Lampard were included in the starting 11 and were expected to give Rooney a few through balls so that he can turn
them into goals, just like he used to in his club. Sadly, for the English fans, things did not really turn out the way they expected. When the English team returned after a humiliating 4-1 loss from the Germans side; Wayne Rooney did not even have a single
goal for the English side.
With Wayne Rooney struggling too hard during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and still failing; Manchester United needed a “wonder boy” in the squad to help them win the title during the next season. Good for the Red Devils, they actually
were able to find that wonder boy. From all the places in the world, they were able to find him in Mexico. Javier Hernandez is currently the hero of Manchester United.
As Wayne Rooney is “booed” by the English crowd, he still needs time to get his confidence back. Javier Hernandez, on the other hand, has been able to score a goal for Manchester United in every game that he has played. Sir Alex
Ferguson has already told the press that Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney share similar sort of “playing style” and they both can do wonders when they are on the field for their club, which is Manchester United.
This year Wayne Rooney needed the confidence but now he is involved in transfer speculations. Can the newly-signed Javier Hernandez come up to take a stand for his "dream" club? One can just wait and find out.
