Lee-Anne Pace is considered to be the superstar of the pro women golf today. With five pro wins to her credit, she has a huge fan base that is accustomed to see Pace playing great golf at every event.
So what are her chances at UNIQA Ladies Golf Open?
For a change, both fans and experts agree this time. Pace has a great chance of winning the event.
The perspective of fans is very clear. There is no analysis involved in their prediction. They have a star who has been playing great golf. This is the bottom line from the fans who believe that Lee-Anne Pace has a great chance of winning the event.
On the other hand, experts use past record and player’s statistics for evaluating the chances of a player in a particular tournament. Let us follow this reasoning and see if Pace has any chance of finishing the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open in the topmost position.
2012 has been a great year for Pace. She has played in a couple of major and minor tournaments and has posted great scores to her record. So far she has not been able to win any titles but she has often come very close to that. In fact she has posted four
top-10 finishes so far.
The year started with Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters. Pace was not in the best of the spirits and played a below average game.
She scored 283 points and finished in the 37th position. This was the worst performance of the year and experts were predicting that this rough patch will continue for a while. And they were right!
In the next LET event, the ISPS HANDA Australian Open, Pace again finished in the 37th position. Fans were devastated by this show of bad form. However, Pace announced that she will do better in the coming events and she lived up to her words.
The next event was World Ladies Championship, where Pace scored a great 213 points and finished in the 11th position. This was the start of a great performance streak that, more or less, continues right till this time.
The next event was the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open presented by EventScotland. Pace did even better in this event and posted her first top-10 finish of the year.
The next two tournaments were a repeat of the start of the year. In the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, she finished at the 23rd position, while in UniCredit Ladies German Open presented by Audi, she posted her worst ranking so far this year, a
63rd place.
What is important in this analysis is the fact that in all the important tournaments so far, Pace has performed really well. Her bad patch appears to be restricted to minor tournaments, which is very fortunate for the South African player.
In the Deloitte Ladies Open, she posted her year’s second best ranking. She finished the tournament in the third place. Similarly, in Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open, she posted a top-10 finish at the tenth place.
In the highly anticipated South African Women's Open, Pace was the only South African player who really outshone all the national and international players. She bagged the second place in the event.
In the light of this analysis, it is very clear that experts have arrived at the same conclusion as the fans. Lee- Anne pace has a great chance of winning the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open.
