Can Lewis Hamilton win F1 2010 season?
Formula 1 2010 season for McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has been mixture of success and misfortunes. He was leading the world championship few months ago and was favourite to win the championship but accidents at Monza, Singapore and unfortunate weekend in Japan
where he had another crash in practice session, forcing him to change a gearbox which got him a grid penalty and an ear disease, have united to leaving Hamilton few points behind Red Bull's Australian driver Mark Webber.
However, it would be foolish for him to count himself out of the world championship. As from his experience he knows he lost the championship to Kimi Raikkonen, when Kimi was 17 points behind with two races to go and still managed to claim the world championship
in 2007. To Hamilton's advantage Red Bull somehow faces the similar senario which McLaren faced in 2007 with both their drivers in championship contention ending up on the loosing side handing championship to Ferrar's Kimi Raikkonen. But unlike 2007 Hamilton
is not the only one competing with Red Bull, he had Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and his own teammate and 2009 world Champion Jenson Button contesting for the F1 crown.
Although he has very slim chances of taking the championship when he faces competition from three drivers above him but there is a possibility. With so many ups and downs this season and frequent change in standing no one can be certain of winning the championship.
In reality this current situation favours Hamilton because he's a driver who can perform out of nowhere which he has proved in the past. In addition to this Hamilton has nothing to loose from the last three races and pressure will be on the Australian. Webber
also faces a tough competition from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Misfortune has played a big role rather than his own performance in him being a few points adrift. But he has no one to blame as it happens to everyone and fortune has played its part in quite a few world championships. Hamilton has no room for any more
misfortunes and needs his team to fix all problems in his car.
Hamilton's chances of holding a title he won in 2008 with numbered races to go are dying except there is an immediate switch of fortune combining with good performance.
With a changed points system this year in F1 it is still possible for Hamilton to be crowned as world champion in November. But its easier said then done, for him to have realistic chance of claiming the world championship he needs his teammate Jenson Button
to perform well with him. McLaren pair must work together against their competitor and not against each other.
With last two tracks Brazil and Abu Dhabi suiting Red Bull because of their recent success on these tracks McLaren would be hoping that both their drivers finish on the podium ahead of Red Bull and Ferrari.
McLaren pair must beat Webber ideally claiming 1st and 2nd to put some pressure on Red Bull's Mark Webber.
