Can Lexi Thompson and Esther Choe make their way up to the top in 2013?
The Ladies European Tour is one of the most captivating tours in the women’s golf circuit. It has moulded and toughened women golfers, enabling them to walk on the fairways with their head held high.
Golf has now been taken over by the youngsters. Among the talented young golfers on the Tour, there are two names that stand out and make their presence felt.
American Esther Choe, a professional golfer, is now a 22-year-old, who turned professional back in 2007. In 2006, the American golfer was the American Junior Golf Association Player of the Year.
She also won the 2003 Junior Orange Bowl International Championship and was twice a member of the U.S. Junior Solheim Cup team.
Her new ambitions include competing on the Ladies European Tour. Although her intentions to play on the Tour do not have any strict targets, she just wants to gain a little experience on the Tour, travel, and be a part of high-profile golf.
Golf demands hours of practice in order to improve and compete at the top most level. For some natural players, it is easier to do so, but Choe says that she has to spend four or five hours on practice on a daily basis.
Her strength is her short game, which adds a major advantage on the greens because when the pressure gets the best of golfers, it affects the scorecard with disastrous outcomes.
She has a weak swing, the 22-year-old has changed numerous coaches over the past few years. With every coach coming up and altering her swing, she has lost the stability one should have while driving the ball.
However, she says that the problems with her swing will soon be sorted out as she has a new coach to cater to that.
The highly ambitious golfer is definitely someone to look out for during the next season.
Lexi Thompson, another prominent American golfer, has been the centre of attention on the Ladies European Tour, with her scintillating performance on the fairways.
Last year, she won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters with a flawless performance on the Majlis course.
Thompson is one of the top contenders in any tournament she participates in. Although the American is still young and growing into a more mature player, she has achieved more than her peers can even dream of.
The 17-year-old turned professional in 2010 and has shown some decent performances on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Major Championships.
Her best result in a major tournament was recorded in 2010, when she finished 10th on the US Women’s Championship.
The year 2013 will definitely be a season to look forward to, as the players gear up to compete against each other. With new faces and rising stars on the lookout for some wins on the Tour, it will be delightful to watch the top-ranked lady golfers to come
up with better golf.
Thompson has better chances of getting the better of Choe because she has competed with the best on the Tour and has shown better results in the past season.
With her consistent performance, Thompson has made sure that the other contenders on the Tour recognise her as a force to reckon with.
Choe will have to raise the level of her game to contend with the best in the business, otherwise she will have to face the bitter reality of disappointment that every golfer faces during their careers.
