Can Lyoto Machida regain the title against Jon Jones or will he get knocked out? – UFC Special
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) keeps giving its spectators fights to remember for ages. UFC fans are anticipating the same fight at UFC 140, which is scheduled for December 10, 2011. On the main card, the light heavyweight
bout is going to be held between Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Lyoto Machida and American MMA fighter Jon Jones. Both fighters have never met each other inside the UFC octagon and would be meeting for the title in December. The two mixed martial
arts (MMA) fighters have been doing great in their MMA careers.
For them, the UFC light heavyweight title is very dear to them for they have been title holders before. The reigning UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones would have his hands full when he would come face to face with Machida.
The 33-year old Brazilian fighter, Machida, has won sixteen straight fights from May 2003 to October 2009. He won the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 98 in May 2009 by beating Rashad Evans.
Machida did suffer two loses at UFC 113 and UFC 123 in May 2010 and November 2010 respectively. His first loss in his MMA career against Mauricio Rua at UFC 113 was the heaviest as he lost his UFC light heavyweight championship
to Mauricio Rua. Machida, nicknamed, The Dragon, was quite shaken by his loss at UFC 113 as he was unable to win his next bout at UFC 123 against Quinton Jackson.
Going into the fight against Jones at UFC 140, the American MMA fighter, Jones, nicknamed Bones, would have to get a great start. Jones won the UFC light heavyweight championship title at UFC 128 by defeating Mauricio Rua. Machida
would be looking to get back the title and teach Jones a lesson. Looking at the fighters from a broader perspective, Jones has won fourteen fights in his career with one loss.
On the other hand, Machida has won seventeen fights in his career with two losses. Jones successfully defended his UFC title against Quinton Jackson at UFC 135 in September 2011. This would give Jones a higher motivation, as he
would step into the cage with Machida. For Machida, this would also be a threatening factor as Machida lost against Jackson at UFC 123 but his opponent, Jones, not only beat Jackson but also retained his title.
If Machida has won higher matches than Jones, then Jones has lost only one fight and he did not lose his title. For Machida, his first loss at UFC 113 would have a huge psychological effect for he not only lost his first ever bout,
but lost the title as well. Jones would be motivated to retain his title but he should keep an eye on Machida for the Brazilian can jump into action and regain his title.
