Can Pac-Man unify the lightweight division, assuming he beat David Diaz?

Having the WBC Belt of Diaz would certainly mean a date with Nate Campbell who holds the WBA, IBF and WBO Belts right? What are his chances?

  1. Yup

  2. I think he will beat diaz because the only reason diaz even has the belt is because he beat an old washed up Morales. I think he should've stayed at superfeather weight and clean up with a few of the fighters he never fought, like edwin valero. I believe firmly that fighters should never go up or down in weight until after they beat all the competition in their own division. I do not think he will perform well at lightweight past diaz.

    .

  4. My feeling is that Manny is fighting above the weight he should be fighting at.

The Diaz and Campbell are both naturally bigger, hit harder and can take more than the fighters the PacMan is used to fighting.  The added weight does not help Pac's speed.

However, if Pac gets past Diaz, I would expect him to beat Campbell.  If Nate Campbell were to fight Baby Bull again, I think Juan would punish him.

    Just my thoughts.

EDIT:  Ely - the bull is Juan Diaz, the fighter that Nate Campbell beat for his two belts, in a very shocking upset, the fighter that Pac is facing is David Diaz, who is not as skilled as Juan Diaz.

  5. If the Campbell fight can be made - and I don't think it will happen until January 2009, possibly, as Manny has expressed an interest in having a fight in Macau - then I think Manny beats Campbell, and unifies the belts at 135. Then again, it may not even be Campbell that Pacman faces - Joel Casamayor has been mooted for Campbell's next fight.

  6. absolutely pacquiao will beat the bull.. for pacman, diaz is just an apple that can be eaten wholly.

  7. Let him get by Diaz first. We don't know how he will look at 135. If you want to read about this fight head on over to http://www.fightjunkie.com/predictions they have a write-up on the fight and also a forum where you can go and chat about this and many other fight related stuff.
