  1. No they may not :)  A school nurse needs to have a RN (registered nurse) degree and most likely have earned a BSN (bachelor of science in nursing).  Very few schools seem to use allied health personnel such as a nurse's/health aide in the nurse's office.

    Please note that there are not supposed to be too many jobs for the medical assistant (or medical biller or coder) despite what those private $$ schools say.  If still interested in training, please look at the county vo-tech school or community college as long as it's accredited within the industry.


  2. Nope, a school nurse is an RN (usually with a BSN).

  3. Medical assistants can only work under the direct supervision of a doctor. It's against the law for them to be supervised by a nurse, since they work directly under a doctor's license.

    Therefore, unless the school also has a doctor on staff I'm 95% sure they would not be able to work independently as a school medical professional.

  4. That would depend entirely on the required qualifications of the school district.  Though I would guess that a school nurse must in fact be a nurse.
