  1. if u install XP using bootcamp, an app present on most intel macs it will, otherwise only OSX compatible applications, mostly packed in dmg format

  2. It should be able to run most the regular programs. Just to be safe, always check the system requirements before running the setup for the program. And also, if you are using programs that don't have a publisher, most likely they were designed only for Windows so avoid them.

  3. Yes, if you use bootcamp, then install Windows XP

  4. No it will not run Windows programs because the MacBook runs a different operating system called MacOSX.

You can still run Microsoft Windows XP and Vista on a MacBook by using BootCamp that is built in MacOSX or run VMWare or other virtual machines.

VMware will run the windows os inside MacOSX

There is a other possibility to run windows programs on a mac using Darwine but it doesnt support all windows programs.

  5. A Mac is NOT Microsoft. Macs will not run Windows programs at all.

  6. no mac and windows are enemies, you need to get seperate software.

but mac has copied versions, like mac versions of all windows software and gets games also, just very slowly. they arent gaming computers.

  7. I think you meant to ask "Can a Macintosh run every program that Windows can?"

The answer to that is a definite NO. The two operating systems are fundamentally incompatible.

That being said, there are emulators out there that allow you to run Windows software on Mac OS X.

Better yet, if you get one of the Intel based Mac's, you can run a virtual Windows environment from within Mac OS X. You can also choose to install both Windows and OS X on an Intel-based Mac, so that you can dual-boot and choose which operating system to use each time you reboot your computer.

For more on virtualization software, Google something called "VMWare"

  8. Technically you can make some changes, wave your wand and work some magic and get some things to work.

But out of the box, a Macbook will not be able to run a lot of the programs that Windows can. That was the deal breaker for me.

I have to tell you though the Macbooks are really cool. But I always feel sorry for the girl who can't get her cool Macbook working.

The choice is yours. Take care.
