Can Milkweed Poison You?

Question

I feel like an idiot but a put a little drop of the milk in a milkweed plant in my mouth to see what it tastes like. I spit most of it out. Can you please answer? Im kinda scared.

It's not actually milk from the milkweed, it's a sap that only looks like milk.  You'll be fine if it wasn't a lot, if you got it in your eyes or any other sensitive areas you would feel it.  Just be sure to wash your hands after you are around it.

oh dont worry milkweed is  not poison! as a kid my brother would dare me to eat it and i was stupid enough to eat it and i was fine its okay:)

Just dont do it again with other plants...

Like Atropa belladonna for instance or the more common Cicuta maculata

Only if you consume about 1/10th of your body weight. It's not healthy, but that tiny amount wouldn't kill you, or even make you seriously ill. Maybe some mild discomfort.

Just remember, not all plants are like that. Some are very toxic, so never taste an unknown plant.
