  1. No

Nadal finally beat him at Wimbledon this year, but Federer is still the best in the world

  2. I think he can.

    If he wins the US Open he has a great chance of getting ahead of Federer;

    :D

  3. I definitely think so. After how he's been playing this year, he'll probably do well in the US Open Series, and, in August, the US Open. As far as fact goes, he's 770 points behind Federer right now. But, he's been doing well, and there are a lot of point bonuses in the US Open Series, plus the points you get for winning the tournaments in the first place, so if he continues to do well, he could take over the #1 spot before the year's over.

As far as Roddick goes, if he's ever going to rise in the rankings again, now is his chance. This year, Federer's been on what seems like a down point, even though he still made it to the FO and W finals. But Roddick has excelled wonderfully on hard courts this year, winning in San Jose, winning in Dubai after victories over Nadal and Djokavic in the quarters and semis, and then defeating Federer in Quarters before falling to Davydenko in the semis. So with the US Open Series and US Open coming up, if he continues to do well on the Hard Courts, now is his best chance to rise in the rankings and win another Slam.

  4. Nadal will take over the #1 spot really quickly now that he´s won wimbledon here are my reasons:

-federers heart was broken as he lost wimbledon

-Nadals dominance at roland garros is getting clearer  and clearer

-nadals game has been improving the last years while feds  has (except for clay) stayed the same

i even think fed could end the year at #3 because djokovic is probably gonna make a reappearence....But u can´t forget andy, who might couldwin th next us open ,because  the olympics (that he´s not participating in ) are all that the top is focusing on,which could help him

  5. definetely the way nadal is playing. personnally i think nadal is better than federer and beat federer on grass at wimbledon.

  6. He could, technically he's number one in the atp race but in the rankings hes about 600 points behind so depending on how he does on the us open series he could pass federer.

  7. it seems most like he will now give me my 10 points ok?  lol

  8. Absolutely- he is well on his way now!  Don't forget - Federer is 5 years older than Rafa so has had all that time to build up points.

  9. I don't think that Nadal will ever be world #1, which is a bit unfortunate because in any other era, he would've been, at least for a while. But, the hardcourt season is coming up, and it is Nadal's worst surface. Also, Federer stated that the Wimbledon loss has given him motivation to improve and keep his #1. I'm also worried that Nadal's knees are in rough shape, and this hardcourt season could really damage them, which would be a shame, because he has such amazing speed. I think Federer will retire at #1, Nadal maybe retire because of injury, and there'll be a few years without a solid #1.

  10. yes

  11. Yes, anybody can overtake somebody,,, but consider the time element... it would take longer for some, and quicker for others... Nadal is now snapping at Federer's heels while Roddick is about a third of a mile down the hill, but he'll catch up soon also if he'll be consistent in winning matches... and the others would loose often...

  12. It is definitely possible for Nadal to overtake Federer this year.

Right now, Nadal is 770 points behind Federer in the rankings.  Nadal has 1055 points to defend for the remainder of the year, while Federer has 3175 points to defend.  This gives Nadal quite a few openings to overtake #1 if he continues to play well and not withdraw from tournaments he played in last year.

Federer is having a rough year (compared to 2007) so far, and with so many points to defend, plus the Olympics, there is a greater chance he will have to pull out of some tournaments, or lose in early rounds.

If Nadal is going to overtake the #1 position, it needs to be this year.   I don't think Federer will allow the Australian Open and Wimbledon slip away next year, sending Nadal back to #2.

I really hope Nadal makes it.  I don't want him to go down in history as the best player to never be ranked #1.

  13. Yes, I think he can because eventually Federer will start to decline (as he already is), and get old and since Nadal is only 22 now he will overtake Federer.

  14. In any tournament with both Federer and Nadal entered, the person with the higer ranking will generally have the higer seeding.

Until Nadal gets the number 1 ranking, he will most likely be seeded # 2 behind Federer in any tournament they both play in.

  15. I think Rafa can win it :) ! Vamos x

  16. Yea absolutely.  It's just a matter of time when the big boys start swapping the Number 1 seed back and forth.  The way things are going currently Nadal will get that Number 1 seed at some point.

  17. the ranking is determined using a point system. so right now, even though federer lost Wimbledon, he still ranks number 1. however, at this rate, nadal will most certainly overtake federer which is sad because i think federer really deserves a win.

  18. Yes, I think he can.  Federer is getting easier to beat.  He's not as formidable and he once was.  The top ranked players have all played him enough now that he can't get into their heads anymore.

  19. yeah
